Hola Espana!

In law school, I spent a month studying in Madrid & had the wonderful opportunity to travel through many parts of Spain. The one area I wanted to go, was Costa del Sol - it always sounded so romantic & our friends came back with exotic stories of their trip to Morocco. A trip to Southern Spain has been on my short list for 15 years.

We weren't planning another vacation this year. With Nick in school & me not working as regularly as before, we thought we would wait until he graduated for our next trip. Then, Ross called & said we could stay in their condo in Costa del Sol. It felt like it was meant to be. We traded in miles & planted a seed in Jessica & Mom's ear for child care.
Then, I started planning an itinerary. I wanted Tangier, Nick pushed for Sevilla, Ross & Cecilia wanted to see The Alhambra in Granada. The most helpful book I used was Rick Steeves' Spain 2009. We put over 1000 miles on the car (Nick drove the whole time).
Our condo was in Fuengirola, Malaga, Spain. Inexplicably, the address for the condo was Mijas, Malaga, Spain. So, we took a little detour from the airport & saw Mijas. Day 1 was spent locally adjusting to the time change. Ross & Cecilia didn't sleep on the plane so it was good it was a low-key day with a little pool time. A hungover woman boarded our plane & got dehydrated. Apparently, there was talk of landing the plane & taking her to medical care (Ross declined our offer for some Tylenol PM & gave us the play-by-play. Cecilia is pregnant so we didn't offer her any). Anyway, after 2 saline bags, she looked much better. However, the patient, translator & 4 doctors were hanging out right by our collective seats. Travel Note: on overnight flights, sleep aids are your friends. Nick & I missed most of the excitement.

Other than the first adjustment day, we didn't spend any time in Fuengirola.
What we bought in Fuengirola - food
What we would do with another day in this city: hit the beach & the Picasso Museum
