I've decided to flip between old & new posts until I am caught up. On Labor Day, our good friends Shawn & Shauna invited us to Park City to celebrate Miner's Day.
Shauna was one of the first friends I met in Salt Lake. We met soon after she got married - pre kids - maybe even pre dogs! It's hard to remember who we were & where we were so many years ago. As we both work for law firms, we've commiserated, encouraged & celebrated many career milestones over the years.
Shauna laid out a beautiful spread. And despite the fact that the kids ate immediately before we arrived, they couldn't resist her tasty dishes.
They have a prime parade watching location.
Policemen -
Firetrucks
and pretty girls with funny waves.
Guess who loved this parade?
The parade was short & sweet.
One cocktail long to be exact.
Luckily, we were parked right outside the refueling center.
After the parade, I said a prayer that my kids never want to skateboard.
Shauna set us up with roadies & we went to race central to look for William (he saw friends in the parade & joined them).
I couldn't convince my kids to join the gunnysack races.
But, they all got ribbons for participating in the wheelbarrow races. Greta & I came the closest to winning. If only she had held my legs up a little higher . . .
Of course, my kids could not resist the face painting.
The mucking & drilling competition was impressive -
and very popular - the grandstands were jam packed.
Ella got a bird's eye view from the top of a beautiful Clydesdale (19 hands!)
We had a fabulous day with wonderful friends. I know we'll keep in touch after we move, it's just hard to know it won't be so easy to see her. But, maybe I'll get to join one of her amazing travel adventures - she is the queen of the travel itinerary. Thanks for a lovely day!
