Four weeks has flown by.
This week was about settling into a new normal. It took me almost 2 days to recover after the juice cleanse. On Monday, I was just trying to find anything that would settle my stomach. If I had consumed the juice more regularly (I forgot to take one while out running errands), the actual cleanse wouldn't have been too bad. I drank 4 of the 6 juices on Sunday - some of them were so potent (I'm looking at you ginger) it took over an hour to drink! But, Monday I felt horrible.
Maybe it was "detox" or maybe it was just too much juice. Either way, while I really liked a the sweet juices and some of the veggie power house drinks, I am not eager to regularly incorporate juices into my diet. Nick said the experience did not leaving him wishing that we owned a juicer. Who knows, maybe if I had eased into the juicing, my body would have handled it better.
The bad juice hangover, coupled with the arrival of 250 boxes of girl scout cookies and Super Bowl Sunday meant that this was not the ideal week for healthy living.
But, in the last 4 weeks I haven't had any caffeine or alcohol. I've consumed more green veggies than I usually do and virtually no gluten or dairy. When I start adding processed food (i.e, my scallops at dinner on Saturday were served over a yummy zucchini risotto with cheese), I pay for it. I just don't know whether it is the risotto or cheese or both that disagrees with me.
This week, it is back to basics.
Lemon water to start the day.
Green Smoothies.
Lots of water.
Lots of Exercise.
Lots of lean meats, quinoa and veggies.
Here's to a great February!
